How to Play ScribbleTod

ScribbleTod is a trading card game you play in a browser. Every character on every card is drawn by hand. You open packs to get cards, fight other players with them to earn coins, and spend the coins on more packs. It is free, and there is no real money in it anywhere.

Getting started

Making an account takes an email address and a password, and nothing else — no age, no real name, no questionnaire. You can start playing straight away, and pick the name other players see whenever you feel like it.

Every new account starts with a pack waiting to be opened, so the first thing you do is the good bit rather than a form.

Opening packs

A pack holds five cards and you never know which. Packs are the only way cards come into the game, and they are bought with coins you have won — The Shop is where they live.

The seven rarities

Every card has a rarity, and the rarity is a colour before it is a word — most players only ever say the colour. A rarer card has better numbers on it, and the rarest are the ones people actually chase.

Every card also carries its own serial number and an edition number, so two copies of the same character are never quite the same card.

Fighting

Pick one of your cards, put it in the queue and wait for somebody to pick a card against it. Fights are always between two cards of the same colour, so a Grey never meets a Rainbow — the queue has only ever matched like with like. Then you watch it play out. Winning pays coins, which is how you afford the next pack.

Fusing your doubles

Pulling a character you already have is not a wasted pull. Three copies of the same character fuse into one card of the next rarity up, which is the main way a collection climbs. Fuse Cards is where that happens, and the three go in knowing they are not coming back.

Fusing climbs as far as Mythic and stops there. A Secret is not something you can fuse your way to — it has to be pulled.

Food, and the marketplace

The Food Store sells things that make a card stronger before you send it into a fight. The Marketplace is where players sell cards to each other: list one at your own price, or take the standing offer if you would rather have the coins today.

What it costs, and what it collects

Nothing. There is no real money in ScribbleTod — no purchases, no packs for sale, no currency you can buy. The coins are won by playing and that is the only way they exist.

An account is an email address and a password. There is no advertising on the site, and nothing on it reports what you do to anybody else.
